Creating Tomorrows Leaders through Martial Arts

Our Story

We are Sepulveda’s ATA Martial Arts a proud member of the American Taekwondo Association (ATA) We have been serving Lake City since 1991, and have been voted “The Best of the Best” karate school for 22 consecutive years. Established in 1969, our ATA family has grown to over one million men, women, and children, training in Songahm Taekwondo, with more than 4,000 schools and clubs across the United States and many more throughout the world.

When you enter our classroom, the focus of your training is not only on physical strength and growth, but also on important skills that will help lead to personal successes in your life. Our training philosophy is based on two main concepts; positive mental attitude and high goal setting. Over the years, the ATA has come to realize that there are many reasons for studying Songahm Taekwondo, and we have worked hard to develop programs that will help realize the goals of our students. Individual attention is a feature of each and every class, allowing you the opportunity to progress quickly and confidently. Your training will be customized to ensure that you receive the best instruction to develop and master your martial arts and self-defense skills, while optimizing your physical fitness levels.

Our Programs

Karate for Kids (Ages 7-14)

image7

“Every Kid is a Winner! Every Kid is Special!

The Karate for Kids program was developed to teach important life skills alongside martial arts training, such as confidence, discipline, and respect.  It’s no secret that kids who train in martial arts typically have better self-esteem, grades, and can defend themselves (mentally or physically) against bullies.

All of these things combined create a dynamic and effective program where students are constantly pushed to do their best and focus on achieving their goals!

ATA Tigers (Ages 4-6)

image8

In addition to our internationally recognized Karate for Kids program, we offer the Taekwondo for ATA Tigers program. The ATA Tiger program was developed specifically for preschool age children ages 2 through 6. This program offers children a strong foundation in essential character qualities such as courtesy, respect, and discipline. In addition, the program is designed to improve children's motor skills and enhance their ability to pay attention and follow directions. All classes are taught using the most safe, fun, and exciting instruction methods available for this age group. This program works in conjunction with the Karate for Kids program, thereby emphasizing the same important monthly themes and value system

Students of all ability and fitness levels enroll in our adult program with a similar goal:

  • To stay physically fit

As a group, our adult students train hard and work to achieve their goals; as individuals, we help them to reach personal standards of fitness and confidence they didn’t think possible.  Improved cardiovascular fitness, flexibility, and coordination are just some of the benefits our teen and adult students enjoy.  Students also see an increase in their confidence with self-defense training and have better self-esteem.

Jee Pahng Ee (Cane)

The Jee Pahng Ee is a highly effective weapon that can be taken anywhere because most people view it as a walking aid completely unaware that the cane can be used as a weapon. The shaft of the cane is swung, using centrifugal force to generate powerful strikes.  The curve of the crook and the walking end can be used for thrusts, and the crook of the cane is used to hook wrist and ankles.

Oh Sung Do (Broadsword)

Oh Sung Do  patterned after the Chinese broadsword and is used for slashing and chopping. The Oh Sung Do blade is moderately curved and single-edged. Its handle curves in the opposite direction as the blade to improve handling. In addition, colorful scarves are attached to the handle. In China most martial arts schools still train extensively with the Oh Sung Do, seeing it as a powerful conditioning tool and a versatile weapon, with self-defense techniques transferable to similarly sized objects more commonly found in the modern world.
